The challenge

Business owners struggle to quantify the value of their digital data. Hiscox needed to turn complex actuarial models into an accessible, consumer-grade digital tool.

The idea

Apply NN/g usability heuristics to lower the cognitive load. Turn dense loss categories (e.g., Intangible Assets, Business Interruption) into a frictionless, comparative flow.

Along the way

Concrete moves between intent and handoff—each step reducing ambiguity before the next layer of fidelity.

  • Data Visualization

    Influenced the UX strategy, translating heavy insurance logic into fully responsive static mockups that prioritized clarity.

  • The Friction & Pivot

    The actuarial logic was initially overwhelmingly complex, threatening the build timeline. I proactively immersed myself in risk modeling to ensure I could accurately translate the core logic alongside the engineering team.

  • Developer Liaison

    Acted as the technical bridge, ensuring the custom math and data visualization logic perfectly matched the design intent during handover.

The outcome

Created an advanced, user-centered lead-generation tool that makes abstract cyber threats concrete and actionable for global enterprise clients.
